Glucose is a sugar that is the main provider of energy for plants and animals alike. There are two forms of glucose, one is linear, and the other is cyclic (hexagonal-ring). The ring structure is a lot more common than the simple linear form. Animals though use cyclic glucose in the mitochondria, also known as the powerhouse of the cell. Plants use linear glucose for energy after the system of photosynthesis. The glucose is stored after being transformed from energy derived from the sun to energy usable for plants. Glucose is an essential nutrient to the health of humans and all other living things. Without glucose it would be very hard to function because one would not have any energy.
